NEXT OFFSEASON FIXING THE D

Created by: Neptune12
Team: 2023-24 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 24, 2022

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
We are in a win now mode, everyone is tired of losing and our biggest problem is Our Defence. With that in mind I was not afraid to trade our Prospects who will still take a couple years to be better. Also I would fire DJ and bring in a Coach with a defensive system like the 1-3-1 system.

THE DEFENCE:
When it comes to our Defence the only players I would keep are Chabot, Sanderson and JBD. I would also keep Zub if he signs for 4m not more. Brannstrom has been better this year but he is still a liability in our Dzone and doesn't produce enough points, he is good at skating and passing that is it. (we already have Sanderson and Chabot for that). Thomson isn't ready yet and im not waiting another couple years for him to be good enough so trading him to rid of zaitsev is the better option imo even tho he might be a good Dman in the future.

THE GOALTENDERS:
Talbot is ufa after this season and he isn't doing the best so I signed a big UFA contract for a good but aging goalie because I'm tired of mediocre Goaltending even if the contract becomes a bad one the cap will go up and Varlamov will be 37 not the end of the world IMO. When Varlamov's contract ends Mads Soogard will be replacing him as our #1 goalie. I signed Hellberg incase of injury.

THE FORWARDS:
I didn't resign DeBrincat because I feel we very much need better Defence than to spend another 9m on a forward. Our forward core is good but without a good Dcore to strengthen their back they can be ineffective. I traded Kelly because he takes a bunch of bad penalties and Greig will slot in at 3LW. I resigned Motte because he's a good reliable defensive player. Signed Pinto to a bridge deal.

PS I might have traded too much for some of the trades but im to a point where I rather trade away more assets to do what ever it takes for proper Defence asap.

Comment your thoughts about the trades pls.
