I'd rather just see what Ostlund brings instead of tying up 9 mill for 8 years

I don't think we should be on the hunt for Horvat. We already have Thompson as 1C. Cozens will probably be our great 2C. There are also Savoie and Ostlund for the future, Krebs or Mittelstadt can become 3C.

Peterka - Cozens - Quinn line looks great andI don't want to destroy it.

We better improve our defense and find a physical middle six winger.

Ostlund or savoie, cozens, Krebs, even mittelstadt.

Absolutely not a need behind thompson

If Cozens wasn't growing like he is, maybe. Savoie and even Kulich should be ready soon. Unless Kulich goes to W.

Because they acquire a high profile player doesn't mean they will neglect the other areas of need.
As for line combinations whatever I put down was done just to add Horvat...combine any way you want
Totally agree they need one more D-man but highly doubt they will look for a high priced guy anyway
Everybody knows we need a physical forward or two but Adams

Here is my thoughts, good or improving teams don't distance themselves from acquiring high end talent. We have the ammo to do so without draining the prospect line.
To add to that...there is no guarantee any of those 3 first rounders will ever become a player equal to or better than Horvat because they are are just that prospects.
Strength down the middle is something this team has lacked for years. Also, a player with Savoie's talent can also move to the wing (I wouldn't include him in the trade)
Injuries occur and if that were to happen to a starting center you don't miss a beat at one of the more important positions center.
Horvat is the Van captain...he's a leader. From what I have read he's a family man. If Jost checked all the boxes so does Horvat plus he has a ton more talent.
Just saying, Jost went 10 overall and he's played on 3 team and was acquired on waivers so again I say prospects are just that.

To end my long winded rant lol This team isn't far off, add Horvat, a stay at home D-man and a physical player or two and the playoffs aren't a dream.

I understand where you are coming from. Just think a top 4RD and a top 9 LW that is a forecheck machine are more of a need. Really wish they would have tried for Crouse

I just think we have good center depth and Cozens is already playing like Horvat from previous seasons. Bo will be 28 years old, contract 9 million for 8 years. I myself at first wanted to trade for Horvat, but then I thought that he might be a luxury at this stage.

Sabres have a lot of prospects to look at and a lot of unknown. Think Krebs could be a good 3C if he has the right linemates

Yes, but we already have Thompson and Cozens. Savoie is my favorite prospect in general, and almost a year before the draft, I really wanted Savoie to be in Buffalo, and during the draft I did not believe that he fell into our hands. Matt can also be a center or become an elite winger. Ostlund is very interesting. Kulich could play in the center but will probably be a winger. Kozak will probably grow into a decent center for bottom 6. Mittelstadt and Krebs are still in the team. Our depth of the center is superbly built for the future and someone will still have to be traded. Another thing is that our defense depth looks bare, there is almost no one, especially on RD. We also lack physical wingers.

I like Kozak alot, once Nadeau gets here I really think the Sabres could go away from a traditional 4th line Rousek Kozak Nadeau could be a beast of a 4th
