Sharks aren’t doing that especially with $3 mil retention

If Toews waives for Toronto - and I don't know why he wouldn't- Hawks definitely accept this offer. Might not even need Abruzzese in the deal. 2023 1st for Toews 50% retained and the 2023 3rd to take Kerfoot should get it done

I'm not saying Kerfoot is a cap dump. He just has no value specifically to the rebuilding Hawks. The 3rd is needed if Leafs want Hawks to take his cap hit.

Crazy sharks fans that think meier will net them everything they could possibly dream of will tell you that isn’t enough, but that’s a very fair offer for Meier. I would be shocked if they get more than that.

Overpay for toews in my opinion.

when does a 26 year old power forward on pace for 40 goals after a 35 goal season get scraps? 23 1st plus top prospect isn’t out of the realm of possibilities for him! and this isn’t that.

More frequently than a guy of his caliber having a $10M QO. Meier is not the kind of asset that re-shapes the trade market.

In all likelihood, he’ll probably sign an extension, and the sharks will continue to not fix what is clearly broken.

He’s not a top prospect, but he’s a solid asset that’s the perfect compliment to a first round pick to get this kind of deal done. Though I do think the 1st would have to be in 2023.

If he is your top prospect then Tor is in worse shape than i thought. he’s not a bad piece but he is undersized and lacks top line ceiling. and the 24 draft thins out after the top 10 so your 24 1st is no better than a 23 2nd.
would you trade Nylander for that package? cause Meier is as good or better than Nylander and has been successful without all world talent around him!

I obviously prefer resigning as players like Meier are special and hard to find and Robertson will never come close to Meier and there is a very slim chance that 1st ever does either.

The sharks need to rebuild. They shouldn’t have extended hertl. They’ll probably make the same mistake with meier, but they shouldn’t.

Calling Robertson a “top prospect” is a bit of a stretch. I’m not saying he’s bad but he isn’t a top prospect, not sure many people outside Toronto see him that way

Why is that a mistake?
you still need to provide fans with entertainment and put fans in the seats during a rebuild and both Meier and Hertl will still be valuable pieces when we turn things around.
sharks have the option to trade Meier for a valuable return, but if the return isn't there they shouldn't trade him just to move him.
that just sets the team further back as you would then have to find replacements for the production you just lost.
another thing to consider is having a team full of players at the same age is dangerous, having 5+ guys needing massive pay raises at the same time after their ELC are up causes financial crises and leads to moving valuable assets for pennies on the dollar because teams know your desperate. I.E. Dadenov to Montreal, Monahan to Montreal Fiala to LAK.
