I am seeing all these Meier post for Jersey.....

The team is humming along, arguably the deepest organization in the NHL.

I ask.... why the love affair with Meier (I get he is good) when this team is so young, balanced and talented?

Simply seems counter productive to everything Fitz has done to this point.

Holtz and a 1st is already pushing it, there's no need to throw in Foote as well. No reason to send Johnsson either, unless they want him.

It is seeking the shiniest of toys and just adding to what the Devils do well. Some people just want to spend picks and prospects because they can now. The Devils aren't winning because they have an elite top heavy roster, they are winning because of the depth. If there is ANYTHING I would want it is to upgrade at 3C over Boqvist/Haula (when he gets kicked back to C likely with Palat coming back). Improve the back end. With top nine wingers of Bratt, Palat, Sharangovich, Tatar, Zetterlund, and Mercer....why upgrade at wing? The Meier stuff is just something people can't drop and focus too much on.

I'd be much more open for hearing about 3Cs. Having Haula as an extra would be solid.

Shiny names are nice, but pieces that male sense are better.

Not sold on Haula...... as an extra sure, but maybe better suited on the wing...... making a play for a Colton Scissons I think is a better fit. Plays all 3 forward positions, contractvis great and he has term.

Gotta think the Devils have a piece that would float Poile's boat on that one.

Of all people, Colton Sissons? He's worse than Haula. Sisson's analytics have tanked in the last 18 months and his stats are not better than Haula.

If anything I would say Pius Suter, who has actually pretty solid analytics. I do think DET starts to slowly die out and end up being sellers.

Adam Henrique plays some wing but also has over 280 faceoffs this year and has won 53%. ANA is going nowhere fast so would move him.

I'd even kick the tires on Lar Eller before Sissons.

Meier adds a power forward and a finisher to their aresenal and with them ready to compete now and Meier being 26 and would give NJD 6-8 years of prime play this just works so well.

I think Foote is overkill. I also think Johnsson is in there for cap relief for NJD.

Devils don't even need that cap relief. With Johnsson in the minors, this roster is cap compliant despite the extra roster player it currently has.

I'm not saying you guys do. I'm saying he's likely in there for that.
