Next Expansion Team - Please Read Description

Salary Cap Mode: Basic

Description

This is an expansion team comprised of 2025 UFA's, one from each team. The objective was to get as close to the projected salary cap for 2025 at $92 million, so some conventions for expansion drafting were thrown out the window. To keep just a small sense of realism, I add the following notes explaining where I had to get a little creative.

- Buffalo somehow did not have any 2025 UFA's, so their 1st round pick became a substitute for that
- Igor Shesterkin is the only 2025 UFA of the New York Rangers and since I can't imagine them letting him leave in an expansion draft, their 1st round pick became expendable
- Victor Hedman is Tampa Bay's only 2025 UFA, and they would probably rather keep him than keep a 1st round pick
- John Tavares and Mitch Marner are the only UFA's for Toronto in 2025, and there's just no way Toronto would let them walk for nothing, so they would let a 1st round pick go before they would let either of them go

I think I configured this all to the way I think it should have, but if I missed a detail somewhere along the way, then I'll apologize in advance

You might be right, and I have no problem with being wrong here, but he was been marginally better with the Leafs than with the Isles, and it almost seems like he's been getting better with age. I don't know, I'm more on the fence the more I think about it.

Why did you make the expansion team entirely of 2025 UFAs? That really makes it unrealistic; you threw away some important rules. Imagine the entire team tests free agency the following year lol.

You got me there. I'll admit that it's a bit of a flawed concept, but I really just thought it would be interesting to see who's available given those parameters.
