How is Gurianov worth more than McGinn right now?

I don't think Karlsson makes any sense going to Dallas

McGinn is overpaid by about $500K with one too many years on his contract, but he's still an effective hockey player. He's fast, physical, good defensively and can contribute offensively. Gurianov has gone the way of Kapanen and right now I'd say he doesn't hold too much value.

McGinn is definitely a luxury for the Pens and I think they could utilize his cap space in better ways, but this trade makes us worse on the ice and right now we're killing it.

That Karlsson trade is so bad for Dallas. If he was a pending UFA I might considering it but there's no way Dallas can take on that contract even with retention which SJ would absolutely not do.

You are getting the leading Norris candidate at like $6 mil aav and dump suter, that’s an awesome deal for Dallas

Trading 3 blue chip prospects and 1st for a 32 year old who has a notorious history of injuries and a mammoth contract that doesn't end until he's nearly 40 doesn't sound like an awesome deal to me. He's playing well now (he might even win the Norris) but there's no guarantee how he plays next year or the year after, etc.

There’s also no guarantee prospects make the nhl, and again his contract isn’t a mammoth when it’s $6 mil aav. I don’t think Dallas should do it but it’s not horrible in terms of value
