Are the sens in better shape then we thought

Created by: StephL05
Team: 2022-23 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 15, 2022
Published: Dec. 15, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I think this team had a lot of new faces added, and significant pieces not compliment players. Adding guys like debrincat, giroux, sanderson, pinto, and talbot is a massive makeover and that takes time... this team needed time to learn to play with each other and develop chemistry. I think being 500. After 30 games is honestly not so bad under these circumstances, injuries havnt helped niether. Yes this team has some warts but they are in good shape with most of the core locked up long term, cap going up 1 mil next year doesn't really change much but the following year is suppose to be a significant increase and we also get another 3 mil with murray and Ryan coming off the books that year. I wouldn't rush a deal but adding that much needed dman should be done before this year's deadline to give him time to build chemistry, signing the cat and zub and I think we are a playoff team next season.forgot to mention guys like greig and docker being close to ready to join this team helps as well. What do you guys think?

It'll be interesting what king of deal the cat gets, since he's starting to really heat up.

There's some, but not a lot of money coming off next season, you might get into a bidding war for Zub.

We will have to wait and see but I think they can fit it all in... deals for norris and timmy were said to be pre mature but I think as early as next season with salaries continuing to increase these deals will be steals... even the tkachuk and batherson deals too. Hoping dorion can keep it going with zub and the cat.... team seems to enjoy playing with each other

Hate to be a splash of cold water but SENs are sub 0.500, 23rd in league (points %) and there are at least 5 teams between you and the final wild card spot. Some good young pieces but also some major holes on this team, think it’ll take a few more years to be honest.

Lol they also haven't played the 30th game I mentioned.. rounded up 1 game and 1 win they are on the same ball park but hey if that's what you take from this and you feel good about being the actually your wrong guy I am glad I could make your day

I didn’t understand your comments:
“ rounded up 1 game and 1 win they are on the same ball park”
“ you feel good about being the actually your wrong guy”
What do they mean?

Just pointing out - in this league which enforces parity - it’s hard to see major improvements year to year. NJ Devils being the exception. D corps (in particular) and goaltending hard to improve in only one year.
Plus we all play in the toughest division in the league 🤷

I think you guys are missing the point OP is trying to make. He's trying to say that the team struggled a lot because they didn't have any chemistry + many injuries. Since December the team found Chemistry and has been doing very well despite Missing their top 2 centres, their best Defensive D, and many depth players due to injuries. 3 of the centres Right now are rookies and the depth is full of ahl plugs yet the senators have been slowly climbing the standings. They currently sit 6th in the league for PP% and 4th in FO%. PK is now 16th compared to 26th in Novembre. Yes there's still 5 teams between them and the playoffs but Sens fans are still optimistic because there's only 7pts between last in the Atlantic and the last wildcard spot. Last year there was a 20pt difference between the wildcard and none playoff teams.
