Team: 2022-23 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 18, 2022

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
TOR
  1. Kylington, Oliver
  2. 2024 6th round pick (CGY)
Additional Details:
Once he's recovered from his injury, he could play either side, but I'd try him on the right side of Gio
CGY
  1. Kerfoot, Alexander
  2. 2024 5th round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
Kerfoot has begun to find his footing this season, and maybe could provide that Swiss Army knife persona to the Flames in a productive way

Leafs really don't need a Dman, but they might Kerfoot at centre. Besides the Leafs deep at wing or centre really.

I might be a Leaf fan, but Toronto is probably one of the most inconsistent teams when it comes to defence. You wouldn't believe they had back-to-back shutouts last week after their most recent game against Washington. I recognize that the 2LW slot is a bit of a question mark, but securing more consistent defence, or at least developing a defensive strategy that is more consistent seems like a higher priority at the moment.

Sounds like what someone who may not be a leaf fan thinks.

They're the only team I'll cheer for with authenticity, but I'm not going to let that blind me from things they need to improve on

Trading for a guy who isn't very good defensively to improve defence is not the best plan

don't look at games in isolation like that, we've been a top defensive team all season and one bad game doesn't change that, nor does a shutout mean plan the parade. The best of defensive teams give up 5 occasionally. And this is all with significant injuries to top Dmen for us.

You’re totally right, but I left out the part of my whole thing where this happens every year with more or less the same D-core with minimal changes to it in between. Further, I think that regardless of my proposed move, Dubas is definitely working the phones to get something done, especially after the Rindell contract was terminated.

The D core has changed drastically, like night and day, since Dubas took over. Even since the bubble season. And the D commitment from the forwards has changed drastically over the past couple of seasons as well.

Rindell termination opens a spot for Knies.

Okay, now that I’m really thinking about it, I do agree with you, I think they’re just a weird team that has lapses of greatness from time to time

great team that has needed time to mature. First year they were truly ready/mature and they just narrowly lost to Tampa in a series that they probably even outplayed Tampa a bit. I don't expect to see the young Leafs in the playoffs ever again, even if just like last year, the result isn't what we want. But maybe with some better goaltending and a bounce here and there, the fate changes.

Absolutely, and hopefully the next time there’s negating penalties between Holl and Cirelli, both or neither get called and it doesn’t result in a vital Leafs goal being called back

Kylington isn't injured. According to Treliving he's dealing with personal/family matters back home and there hasn't been much for any updates since camp so I wouldn't except him any time soon.
