Without Knies, this seems like a very underwhelming offer for those two guys. With Knies, I'm not sure. Word has it Knies is a top tier prospect, but I don't know. Any Leafs fans care to come out of the woodwork and analyze this?

That new deal is going to be at least $9M. How is toronto affording that?

You’re opening up Pandora’s box there. Leafland thought Jeremy bracco was going to be elite.

As a Sharks fan, I disagree. I think the Sharks will not get rid of Ferraro and Meier anytime soon, and plus, the Leafs will never have enough money for a new Meier deal.

Lol, well, friend, I believe we're all probably guilty of it at some point with our team's prospects. I remember the hopeful glint in our eyes in Calgary when Feaster drafted Sven Baertschi instead of trading the first round pick again... some of us felt a corner had been turned and that we weren't going to keep recycling the Darren McCartys, Mike Leclercs, Tony Amontes, Jeff Friesens, Nigel Daweses and Matt Stajans of that period and try and build up a pool of decent young players. Then came Sam Bennett, we were over the moon! Then Tkachuk, and, well... here we are. (obviously Tkachuk was worth the pick but hindsight, ya know) .. and how could I forget about Sean Moneyhan!

Hey I thought baertschi was going to be really good too. But it seems like every leafs prospect is headed to the hall of fame

Why wouldn't they just unload Meier to a buyer for a bunch of picks and prospects?
