Description
IDK, just messin around with it. Pasta has haunted Canes fans for years, would be nice to have that top line scoring punch with Svech and Aho on the 1st line. Still some room for depth signings and not tied to 3LHD for Schenn since I hear he would want to come back to Vancouver even if traded as a rental in 22-23.

Probably not fiscally responsible to spend this much on Pasta with Necas bridge deal, Aho contract, Pesce, Slavin, Jarvis, etc, coming up on expiring contracts. Would need a large increase in salary cap in 24-25 to keep the core together.

Curious how far Morrow is from breaching the lineup post college, assuming 24-25?

I have less of a problem with you paying 13mil for Pastrnak and more of a problem with giving Andersen 4 x 4.5. Feel like that's going to be the bigger anchor on your plans especially if Kochetkov is going to be taking a lot more starts going forward. Doesn't make sense to commit to a 33 year old goalie for that long at that price, especially when the Canes system has been able to make pretty much any goalie look at minimum "okay".

This is very true, I agree with that point and think it's definitely feasible to pay someone less. The Canes have very little G depth in the prospect pool, so I think they would err on the side of caution and bring back Freddie and that's likely the number he'll fetch. I could see them bringing back Raanta at a similar term and much lower AAV, but I don't think they want a significant drop off in skill from the backup goalie.

The goalie situation is definitely in flux in CAR right now and the rest of the season will shine more light on how the goalies look next year.

As much as I love both Freddie and Raanta, it’s quite unlikely they get brought back. Canes likely try taking runs at guys like Vladar, Varlamov, Ullmark, Hill, Bobrovsky, and maybe even Lehner depending on if he is healthy enough to play. Someone who will be a very reliable backup but can push for a starting role if necessary.
