Sometimes I Start An ACGM Without Knowing Where Its Going

Created by: IDKtbh
Team: 2022-23 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 22, 2022
Published: Dec. 22, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I just hope I find it along the way.

Pittsburgh could really use some new life. Poulin & Blomquist are a couple of the better prospects in the pipeline and that really isn’t saying much. Not sure this does the job but it’s probably the best PIT can come up with. Suter adds additional depth and Zucker provides some cap relief.

Not sure what’s up with Gurianov but, Kubalik can help fill that void without breaking the bank.

Colorado will have a tough time re-signing Devon Teows, Byram & Newhook next year so, Alex becomes the odd man out. Zadina for under a million for 3 years has immense value if he can contribute to that top 6 playing alongside all world talent. Sundqvist, along with Zadina provide solid two-way additions to gear up for back to back cup runs.

Yeah I kinda forced it with the Penguins trade. I do think the value is even although, with how bare the cupboard is in regards to prospects for the Pens - it looks much worse than it actually is.

I think Newhook for Zadina with 50% retention is even 1 for 1. You don’t?

No, avs don’t need wingers. Newhook has proven he’s the better nhl player as well

Lmao what a joke. I'm over here comparing Zucker to Bertuzzi and you're over here comparing Sid to Suter. Cmon. Zucker has been fantastic this year. He gets into the dirty areas and can do just about anything. Very physical and puts up points when healthy. Not sure if you've watched a pens game this year, but yes I would rather have Zucker than Bertuzzi on this team. Sorry not sorry

This won’t be the deal but I think there is a high probability Newhook is moved before the deadline. Probably in a Bo Horvat deal with multiple 1st round picks involved.

There is no chance he’s moved. Especially for a rental.

Newhook and multiple 1st? That is just awful

I’ve caught a few Pens games and Zucker has absolutely picked up his game this year and has looked good. It’s still silly to make the claim you made. Don’t be a homer.

“No” chance he’s moved? You do realize I didn’t say Bo Byram, right?

Did Alex Newhook all the sudden become Trevor Zegras while I was taking my mid-day nap, today?

He was never bad. He’s continuously improved every aspect of his game and unfortunately that has not translated into lots of goals yet, but yes, he is a good player.

If he’s good then why are you trying to dump him at 50% retained

Well, I know that Devon Toews will cost around $9m next year to re-sign and Byram will likely sign a bridge deal for around $4m next year so that’s $13m minimum. I would imagine adding a veteran forward who has yet to hit his peak (much like Newhook) making under a million would be valuable.

I would imagine Newhook’s contract will be at least $2.5m a year also on a bridge deal so, regardless of how Colorado “does business”, those contracts are something they’ll have to get very creative with in order to navigate around.

A good problem to have, but a problem nonetheless.

The same reason Colorado fans want to keep Newhook, he can play Center. Oh, and we can afford Newhook if he plays well. Colorado cannot.
