Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Washington trade is they would be able to get rid of 2 contracts (Oshie seemingly a bad contract and Backstrom an overpaid one for some cap space (you'd be paying 7.25 million on 1 player instead of 15 million on 2 players). Second, you'd get more flexibility when it comes to using LTIR by not having Backstrom if he was on LTIR again. Thirdly, getting a 2nd round pick via cap dump with retained salary and last, you get at least a decent player (who may have a bad attitude, contract and play issues, but is correctable if there is competent leadership and coaching around him) for next season. It would be a cap dump for the Canucks since Miller has no value here.

For Arizona, the logic with Boeser is I think at some point during the rebuild, they should bite the bullet with their assets and cap space in exchange for building a better competitive team season by season, especially if you get Bedard.

In order to make room for these players, Bo would be traded to Carolina based on their need for a 2nd line centre and if this is the right price.

If the Canes truly needed a 2C, a move would have already been made. KK has been excellent defensively all season, and has started to heat up offensively lately. Not only that but when he plays with Svech and Necas, they both have scored more when they were centered by KK. If the Canes make any move at the deadline, it’s for a scoring winger or a depth defenseman.

Canes pass handily. You claim they "need a 2C". Brother, as of right now, their 2nd line Center is Sebastian Aho because the Jordan Martinook - Jordan Staal - Jesper Fast line has been one of the best in hockey. They do not need that, it's such a lazy take. Please watch a Canes game before you do stuff like this. They need a 3rd pairing D man, Schenn would be a good target. They need another depth forward, maybe Hoglander. Horvat? Easily not. If they wanted a 2C anyway, ROR is such a cleaner fit.

oshie is not a bad contract and they will not move him. backstrom never being moved either. canucks could offer pettersson straight up for backstrom and they wouldn't take it
