You can't do retention for a single year. It's all or nothing.

After Drury stops laughing, he says no thanks but makes a counter offer of Libor Hajek for Hughes with 50% retention, Podkolzin and a 1st round pick.

Dubas Joins in the Laughter knowing Garland isn’t worth a 1st & a good Goalie prospect

OTT declines, the point of moving out Zeitsev is to clear his 4.5M cap space

Horvat with an extension is worth a lot. A late 1st, Laf and Chytil is fair value. It ain’t a sure thing that Laf and Chytil will be the same calibre player as Horvat or even better.

Look at Kallgren in the AHL. Both Petruzzli and Woll are doing better. Kallgren is career backup unfortunately.

But it’s also to get Chabot a defence partner. Myers isn’t a shutdown RHD but he is sure better than Zaitsev and will bring some stability on the right side.

This is false actually, when you are retaining you are only retaining on the current contract regardless of length. If they are retaining on Miller this season it will end when the 8 million contract starts.

First.....Horvat is a rental to the Rangers because they don't have the cap space to sign him and second, it is a way over value of Horvat, just like Canuck fans over valued Miller last TDL. I would not trade Laffy 1 for 1 for him.

Read the trade. He signed an extension. Laf hasn’t broken out and who knows if he will with poor development from the Rangers organization. This is fair value and I’m not even a Canucks fan.

I did read the trade, but your math doesn't work. It's easy to say he signs an extension, but the team would need the cap space for it to work, and they don't have it. So, DO THE MATH. Plus, Laffy isn't available for trade anyway, even if you could do the math.

The math does work as Vancouver takes 2 RFA that are expected to have raises. The only player that needs a raise is Miller. Out of 17.5 million of cap 7.5 is to Horvat with 10 million leftover.

No it does not. They would have 12 players on the roster with only $17+/- million in cap space. If they did your trade (which they would never do), that leaves $10+/- million to sign at least 9 more players (to get to only 22 on the roster), one of which being Miller who will get a large raise. Math does NOT work. Plus, you forget, Laffy isn't available for trade anyway. Easiest no thanks Drury will ever have to say.
