I think this is right. It’s more likely a trade for after 2023 draft since teams will want to negotiate an extension and San Jose isn’t allowing teams to talk to pepe beforehand.

Hard to see SJS getting 100 cents on dollar before deadline unless sides are allowed to talk first.

It feels too rushed to me. The Devils still had a 13 win streak this year; think the current roster deserves a chance to make the playoffs as is. Plus a veteran 3C or something minor.

Also the Devils have good depth in current players/ prospects in LW, C, and D. RW is Mercer/ Zetterlund, Bastian; Holtz is the only one I see with 1st line potential.

8 x what though? Bratt will get 8 x 7,250,000-?, Devils will have Hischier, Hughes, Hamilton, Meier, and Bratt all making over 7 around 40 mil in cap for 5 guys.

We'll see on Palat, but the Devils cannot trade Marino. I cannot go back to watching guys like Lovejoy, Butcher, Merrill, Santini, Vatanen, etc etc playing top 4 minutes.

By the time we're trading Marino, our top 4 will be Hamilton, Siegenthaler, Hughes, Nemec. We'll be fine.

As you can see the Devils would trade Marino in 3.5 years time according to my capsheet.
My suggested D corps going into the 26/27 season would be:
Hughes - Nemec
Siegenthaler - Hamilton
Mukhammadulin - Casey
Vilén as 7th.

They'll be more than fine trading Marino at that point in time.

I still think the Devils should resign one of Graves/ Severson though. Even with depth on D injuries still show up and younger guys can still get a chance.

Plus with Severson's down year and if he doesn't ask for too much wouldn't mind resigning both him and Graves and flipping Bahl/ Walsh++ (not Muk) for a winger.
