NYR don’t have cap space for hog and Kuz. Won’t work. I think all NYR fans and FO prefer to see Laf hit his ceiling over the next 4-6 years

Richard Panik's $250K is gone after this season; Josh Bailey's $5M expires after next year; Johnston's $1.1M after the 2025-26 season. At that point there will still be 4x$8M left on a then-33 year old JT Miller's extension. For that reason, the Islanders pass.

Kuz will cost more than Laf alone. Is Hog even in the NHL right now? Yikes. All last season and summer it was CAN fans saying he was more valuable than Kakko. Is he hurt? Fall of a cliff?

Drury would be betting his position and job as GM. I don't think he would do that. Much greater chance he eat his words and never being close to a GM again.

Next year NYR wouldn't be able to resign Kuz, so this is basically a rental.

Canucks are a bad team. Might as well send him down and away from the tire fire of a team. Canucks have sent all their young guns down this season until the vets can figure things out, allowing the younger guys to get more icetime to develop
