Ok. Dreaming perhaps. But St. Louis is out of the playoffs and decides to go full rebuild. Lots given in edmontons offer (total of 5 1st rounds) but also very good players coming back on good long term contracts.

I’d even add a tiny bit more if needed to get it done, as IMO if this trade went through the oil are now legitimate stably cup contenders for the duration of mcdavid and dri contracts.

This trade addresses two huge needs - defence and goaltending and sets the end result is a VERY good team on paper for the next 3 years or so. So you may need to overpay to get it done.

Players going back to St. Louis do have value as well but mostly just to send cap back
