Ruzicka has 20pts in 30 games this year and hes 23. He's not a dump for them, no idea why they'd even consider this.

Why would Calgary do this? I like Blueger as a depth piece but he a rental. Ruzicka is the most valuable piece in this trade by a landslide

I thought so, it would not be enough. What's the reason, why he has such a low icetime? I don't get it, that is why it looks like he might be available for a trade.

Ruzicka's been excellent for sure, but Blueger is irreplaceable for the Pens unless he or Rooney is a PK god. I wouldn't say "by a landslide". I think the value is reasonably close, but neither team would want to make the Ruzicka/Blueger swap.

Im sorry but sure Blueger is a good PKer but again he's a pending UFA and Ruzicka is 23. If Pens decided to sell this deadline the return you are looking at for Blueger is maybe a bit better than what Ryan Carpenter got last year. Ruzicka on the other hand could get maybe get a return like Hagel if he keeps up his production

Hagel got the value he did because he had a ridiculously cheap cap hit for 2 years after that one, was going to a team that was absolutely willing to give up that much for cheap, young talent, and he was seen as a proven commodity. Hagel scored 21 goals in the 55 games before the deadline and over 100 games of solid production at the NHL level. And the return was still unreasonable.

Ruzicka doesn't have all of that going for him. If you're trading him this year, it's 1 year after, not 2, Ruzicka isn't scoring at a 30+ goal pace, and he only has ~60 NHL games under his belt.

That's not to say Ruzicka isn't a valuable part of a team who could get a decent return, but the stars practially aligned for Chicago to get that Hagel return. He's not going to come close to matching that unless he turns his game up a couple notches. Ruzicka's value right now is definitely not close to a 1st, let alone 2.
