Wild Idea

Description
Alright, let’s not freak out about this, it’s just an idea.

Yes, I’ve seen all the talks on here about how Minnesota doesn’t want Boeser, and I understand that, but I keep seeing the experts say that Minny could/would entertain the idea to bring the local kid home.

I know all about the cap issues they’ll have the next couple of seasons, but what if Vancouver retained a portion of it?

It’s a relatively large haul, Greenway, Öhgren, and a 1st, BUT you get Horvat for the playoff run too, as it’s nearly impossible that Minny could re-sign Bo.

*IF* this trade were to go down, Minny would have around $14.5-$15.0 in cap for next season, so players like Addison, and Boldy could be signed, as well as almost an entire bottom 6. It is doable.

Like I said, it’s a pretty big haul losing Greenway, Öhgren and a 1st for essentially Boeser, but adding Horvat for a playoff run could help propel the Wild.

I don't see the Canucks retaining 2.15 mil for 3 years on Boeser. Horvat alone should get you a first and a good prospect.

I wouldnt want to attach Boeser to Horvat deal. They need to maximize the return they can get for Horvat, there isnt really a rush to move Boeser. Also, if you break down that trade its Horvat for Ohgren and a 1st which is a solid trade, that leaves Boeser for Greenway which i doubt the Wild would do straight up.

Neither do I. The whole thing is a million “what ifs”.
But Vancouver management keeps saying they want to shed cap, and buyouts are very likely to happen on the off season. Sometimes the owner just has to suck it up. grimace

The cap hit is certainly a factor, but there's more to it than that. His underlying numbers are not good. Guerin does not want to add an oft-injured, defensively unreliable player - even if he is a hometown kid. Check out Vancouver's team page in the advanced stats section on hockey-reference.com to see what I mean.

Oh I know. I watch probably 70-75 Canucks games a year, I don’t need to see the underlying numbers lol tears of joy

All I know is that if the Wild are dumb enough to give up significant futures for a rental, I will start rooting for, and following a different team! It would be nothing short of delusional to think this team has a legitimate shot at the Cup! With or without Horvat!

Yeah, let’s trade the same return we got for Fiala for a freakin’ rental. Great plan… Not!

I’d take him at 50% for a 2nd round pick.
