Created by: Balake
Team: 2022-23 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 8, 2023
Published: Jan. 12, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The Flyers are where no NHL team in the modern day wants to be; No mans land. Chuck wants to pursue an aggressive retool but quite honestly failed miserably. Either blow it all up and enter the chase for Bedard extremely late or make some moves going forward

  1. Boeser, Brock
Additional Details:
Might be an overpay, but Canucks get value for Boeser. His current market does not match the player he is. He's worth more than later round picks with retainment I think. Not only do they get 1st/4th Canucks can also flip JVR without retaining his salary since Flyers already did so

  2. 2024 3rd round pick (BOS)
  3. 2025 3rd round pick (BOS)
Additional Details:
Smith to make cap work. Hayes at 7m is quite an overpay, but at 5m with a pace for 65pts he's a more than solid 2C/3C. The more the flyers are willing to retain the more they will get. Doesn't have to be Boston necessarily, but he's from there and aging Krejci and Bergeron this might make sense
BOS
  1. Hayes, Kevin ($2,142,857 retained)

An offer has to blow Flyers management away to let him go at TDL. The void at 1LD that awaits wont be filled anytime soon. Sanheim/York could eat minutes but at the expense of being paired with Tony D or Risto as a first line pair. I could see them waiting for a draft day mega deal or offseason move

Agree with everything said abt Boeser. He isn't a bad player by any means, might be a bit one-dimensional. But, when he's on his game he can be a great 2nd line goal-scoring winger

Im not a supporter or endorsing him, but the flyers without their 1C, 2LW and 1st RD in Ellis are a .500 club, they are playing half the squad under age 25 and they have six defensemen (signed long term or controllable long term salary/cap wise) under 28 yrs old. They have 3 viable goalkeepers under 25 yrs old. Cates, Farabee, Koneckny, Tippett, Frost, allison are a nice mix of youth among current forwards, with some important vet role players like Deslauries and Laughton.

They have brink, foerster, zamula, attard in minors with Gautheir, samson on the way.

Given the injuries and the overall age, being .500 is quite the accomplishment. Add in what theyll get for Braun, MacEwen and JVR at the deadline and they'll have some nice draft capitol. Hayes is on target for a career year at almost a ppg, and that production almost justifies his cap hit. They dont have a crosby or a hedman, but they have a pretty deep group of youth, playing well, with at least two bluechips on the way, even though 3 of their top 9 players haven;t seen the ice this year.
