Lightning Trade Deadline
It would more likely be Foote and a pick for Schenn - you're not getting a better pick back than you send, that's for sure.

Are you out of your mind? Canucks decline without retaining.
Garland struggled a bit this year, we just hired Tocchet and now Garland has 2G 4A in the last 6GP. He's an upper-tier middle-six forward who is excellent along the boards and at retrieving pucks.
If he returns to 50-60 pts, which it looks like he will considering his best years were with Tocchet, then the cap hit is starting to look cheap as the cap increases over the duration of the contract.
You're not getting him for a 23-year-old AHL offensive d-man and a 2nd-round pick.... with retained money? The Canucks laugh you out of the atmosphere.

Deadline Moves
Schenn offer gets beat. The Ott 3rd might work but chances are it gets beat as last deadline management turned down a 2nd.
Boeser's offer is declined because the Canucks aren't interested in retaining that much salary for that long.

Those trades are lopsided for the Canucks pretty heavily.... the NJD trade is by far the worst offender but Schenn for the Leafs best defence prospect is pretty bad too

It just is not a possibility…which is why the horvat to boston talk around here is so frustrating. Of course it’s not going to happen. There’s no need for him on the roster now, and they can’t keep him next season. Carlo for horvat makes the bruins worse this season, and in future seasons. It’s just such a mind numbing lay stupid idea that has no basis in reality.</div></div>

Acting like carlo for horvat is a reasonable concept even worth being discussed is just ignoring decades of precedent. If it was discussed it was in the, “haha i had to ask, right?” Style of things. Might as well ask for mcavoy while you’re at it.</div></div>
I don't think a trade involving Horvat and Boston would ever be for a rental honestly. There would have to be a plan in place to keep Horvat.

A deal that neither fanbase is crazy about
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DefenseFirst</b></div><div>I can guarantee you a couple things.
The first is that the bruins and canucks likely haven’t had any sort of talks outside of, “hey, if something happens to Bergeron or Krejci and we need a center, what would you want?”
The second is that Carlo would never be discussed. That kind of asset being moved for a rental just isn’t a thing in the NHL. Not this century anyway.</div></div>
Yeah, I disagree on "never be discussed" but I think it would be a hard "no." You rarely see a top-4 RH defensive defenceman (just beginning his prime) get moved but that's probably what the Canucks said they are interested in on Bostons team when the question was asked.

Agreed - I was being sarcastic at how it was lopsided. Canucks need Carlo in any trade from the Bruins. I could maybe see Bo Horvat (retained) and Schenn for Morrison and Carlo or something - but I doubt Boston would part with Carlo so I think the discussion ends there.

Yeah, unfortunately, I'm not sure Lysell moves the needle at all for the Canucks. We have winger depth galore - hence why Harrison (or that LD college prospect you have I'm dropping the name on) was who I included.
Fair on Carlo - I would be shocked if you would be willing to part with him but he's the exact thing the Canucks are lacking. I saw a suggestion that Schenn is included in the deal as he could fill in somewhat as a RHD. The question is whether you guys are a better team with Horvat and Schenn vs just Carlo... I'm honestly not sure that's an upgrade but it could be.
Also heard Boston's management is underpressure to acquire help because of the hometown discounts a lot of the stars have taken.

Yeah I agree - with the high price for Dermott. Know they need defensive help and he can play both sides and should be up to speed by the TDL.
With the Boston trade - would you do a 1st and Carlo for Horvat retained or Harrison and Carlo for Horvat retained? Not sure the Canucks would but was curious if you would as a Bruins fan.

Right - so Schenn will get traded for 5-7th round pick by your logic? Remind me when that argument gets blown out of the water. Depth defenceman who can play either side (Dermott) or are defensive, big and physical (Schenn) regularly get traded for 2nd-4th round picks.

Late 2nd, I agree price is high - he'll most likely go for a 3rd if we do trade him. He's been injured all year and has been progressing where by the TDL he should be up to speed and be a quality 5/6 dman.
It was more because you guys don't have a 3rd and I went for what I presumed will be the latest 2nd.
