Both players say no, they both have full NMCs. OEL said two years ago that he only wanted to go to Vancouver and Boston, and while Vancouver is definitely a mess now, so is Florida, so I can’t see OEL waiving his NMC. And for Bobrovsky, with Vancouver being in disarray, probably in store for a long rebuild, and having to leave Florida weather, I super doubt he’d waive his NMC for Vancouver.
This trade would also stink for Vancouver. Bobrovsky’s contract is one of the worst in the NHL, particularly considering his subpar and inconsistent play. With cap hits out the window, Bobrovsky is also more replaceable. While OEL is overpaid, at least he’s better than most free agents. Bobrovsky’s play is sometimes average, sometimes questionable as a backup. So this would stink for Vancouver.
