Yeah I don't think we're ever trading Hughes

Interesting. I'll gather more responses before coming back to this. Thanks!

I think VCR would want a little more trading Hughes, whether that's a 2023 first instead of 2024, or a better player back then Zadina or James. I do like that Edvinsson is the main piece cause i feel if it ever were to happen he'd be who the Canucks would want, especially with our love for Swedish players

Appreciate the feedback! It sounds like you are in line with what NV94 suggested above?

I'd 3rd that opinion. Not quite enticing enough for Van to make the deal. 23' 1st is a must.

Is top 5 protection on the 23 1st palatable for VAN?

There are a few pieces I wouldn’t move for Hughes and Edvinsson is one of them. His combination of size and skating ability is not something that grows on trees, he is virtually untouchable.

The trade is interesting and I would rather give up Johannsen AND Buium instead of Edvinsson. Wallinder, I’d also be very hesitant to move but I might be OK with it.

I also would not be interested in moving our 2023 first. So, suffice to say, there probably isn’t a deal that makes sense in bringing Hughes to Detroit.

Honestly, it seems pretty inevitable he ends up with his brothers in NJ, it’s only a matter of time before that happens.

If the Canucks move Hughes, I'd say a 2023 1st is a must plus a top defensive prospect. I think Edvinsson is a good piece to build a Hughes deal around, and I'd say upgrade the 1st to 2023. Then it's just a matter of adding a few pieces to balance out the deal.

I like the counter proposal on here of Edvinsson, Rasmussen, 2023 1st + 2nd for Hughes and Pearson. It fits the Canucks needs well, with a defensive prospect, young roster centre, and a couple of high 2023 picks.
