Not even a top 6 wing

A WHOLE NEW 3RD LINE

0 generated shots on net

Like dont get me wrong I like the guys but that should be our 4th line. As if its our 3rd line going into the playoffs I got big concerns.

Kampf Engvall I’m perfectly fine as a 4th line, but absolutely not as a 3rd. They got crushed tonight just like they did against BOS. Absolutely, we need some form of a new 3rd line.

Leafs scoring tonight:
- 4th line center
- Defenseman

If they don't go out and get a forward and then proceed to lose another game 7 by 1 goal, maybe a new GM isnt so bad

Yup

Yup

Yep like that line no joke didnt register a shot tonight but the funny thing was everyone was mad at someone who didnt do anything wrong that game lul

Its funny how that works

Like Leafs fans should be mad at the fact our third line is comprised of Engvall-Kampf-and either Kerfoot or McMann who are more defense orientated

We cant just rely on the top 6 forever we need goals as we saw in the Tampa series

Mikheyev = 2 empty net goals
Kampf = 2 goals
Engvall = 0 goals
Blackwell = 1 goal
Spezza = 0 goal
Kase = 0 goal
Simmonds = 0 goal
Clifford = 0 goal

5 goals

Tampa got

Hagel = 1 goal
Paul = 2 goals
Perry = 2 goals
PEB = 1 goal
Maroon = 1 goal
Colton = 3 goals

10 goals

My charts out there somewhere but I believe there bottom 6 has like 20+ more points than ours rn. Need to start fixing

Beating a dead horse. I’ve been saying this since the summer. I hated the off-season they had

The 2 offseason moves I didnt like were NAK (Keefe wanted him) and keeping Kerfoot.

Now we did try and get Acciari but I guess he though the Blues were better. Lul

Still he would have been nice

10 goals 8 assists.

Other than that Jarnkrok has been good, Engvall thank **** is only on a 1 year deal, and Holmbergs out of no where emergence has been good.

Still got a TDL and there are some nice cheap (cap hit) guys to try and get

Lets see

Man if it was that easy why didnt we try it lul.

Nieto would have been a nice add for our 4th line and like Timmins would have cost us almost nothing

What’s the point? I’m pretty sure Merkely isn’t waivers exempt so why bother?

The trade would mainly be for Nieto. Kind of like the Lybushkin trade

Dubas would give up almost nothing and get a guy whose making 850k and has 8 goals and 7 assists

And if someone claimed Merkly double win as we got a contract spot

Meh. We need to swing big and get a top 6, or at least top 9 guy. No need for 4th line guys.

Leafs dont really need a top 6 guy though thats the thing

What they need are 2-3 bottom 6ers who can score and drive play

As Jarnkrok has honestly plugged in that spot well. What we need is a whole new 3rd line that can make our current 3rd line the 4th line

Cause if we look rn

Top 6

Bunting 13 goals
Matthews 25 goals
Marner 18 goals

Jarnkrok 11 goals
Tavares 21 goals
Nylander 26 goals

Bottom 6

Engvall 9 goals
Kampf 4 goals
Kerfoot 7 goals

ZAR 4 goals
Holmberg 5 goals
McMann 0 goals

Nieto would have looked nice with his 8 goals on our 4th line

If there is any truth to this, package Kerfoot with mid rounder and get him

Just send Kerfoot if they plan to buy him out as they get cap and a local. As why add more if they just might buy him out

Because I want him this season. But sure, if all it costs is Kerfoot, then get it done

Garland would genuinely be perfect. If he's available and we AREN'T involved, I'd be kicking myself

This is a bit of an older tweet from Cam, but imagine:

Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Garland - Tavares - Nylander
Engvall - Kampf - Jarnkrok
Hoglander - Holmberg - McMann

This was before rielly though so just a heads up leafs have actually 2mill in useable cap

And that bottom 6 does not feel like it will help us win a series as when our top 6 gets shutdown whose scoring

Even with Rielly, you just move Kerfoots salary and then waive Simmonds. Not that hard. The bottom 6 is fine, having Jarnkrok down there could boost the scoring. If not, you roll our usual top 6 and have Garland on the third. Holmberg Hoglander would be a nasty connection

It's really not trust me if that's the bottom 6 going into the playoffs we're in trouble vs Tampa

I showed above the issue in the last playoff series and if we role with a worst bottom 6 God help us

As the depth scoring is already an issue and if we're not gonna do a thing to fix it RIP

We need at least 3 players

And while I like Garland with our limited cap space I want to utilize it to the max and even if we move Kerfoot his 4.95 mill will eat to much into the 5.5 mill of relief. Unless it's straight up Kerfoot for him just seems to much. As like I said above we need 3 good players for the B6

Obviously love the look but feels like a lot of moving parts.

And for all the talk of D, I just can’t understand why they need to upgrade Sandin. Like for me, the issue is finding a partner for Rielly, because even when healthy the Rielly Brodie paring has not been very good.

Sandin and Liljegren IS a shutdown pairing. I really wish they were deployed that way. Personally, IF they are shopping a D, find a RD that can run our top power play unit. I really like Timmins but he is not ready yet. Our issues is scoring not defending.

For me, if they could go out and get a forward that can play in the bottom six that can drive play and a RD that can run our top unit 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤

Upgrade over Kerfoot and Holl

My only reason for replacing Sandin in that mockup is that I imagine San Jose would probably want him in a deal for Meier if Knies is off the table. If we need to move him to move Meier, it would be worth it. McCabe as a cost controlled replacement and Lafferty as a 4C.

Oh I get it, give to get. I am not on the Lafferty boat. Just more guys who don’t score. Kampf needs to be moved down, we need a scoring 3C desperately

Something like this:

To VAN: Kerfoot, Hollowell
To TOR: Garland
- Garland seems to be on his way out of VAN. He's a decent buy-low target, but as a guy whose value is lower than usual, it's tough to gauge what a return would look like for VAN. They are retooling, so I can't imagine them wanting picks

To CHI: Hirvonen, 2024 1st round pick, 2024 2nd round pick
To TOR: McCabe (50% retained), Lafferty
- Giordano comparable (Hirvonen has the value of a 2nd round pick IMO). You could also spend a tad more to try and get Kurashev over Lafferty, but Lafferty plays C)

To SJS: Sandin, Gogolev, 2023 1st round pick, 2023 3rd round pick (OTT)
To TOR: Meier (50% retained)
- Supposedly Meier's return will be somewhere around DeBrincat's, but slightly less. A fantastic young defenseman and a 1st round pick are the main parts of this deal. Could add another strong prospect like Abruzzese potentially, although I'd be more inclined to hang onto him.
