Islanders don't have between $8,000,000 to $9,000,000 to offer Horvat. They barely have slightly over $9,000,000 to sign 5 players.

Honestly do people look at other teams salary caps? When making such offers.

Isles aren't trading Raty. You also aren't taking back any salary to make this work long term either. Isles are deep enough at C and it would be unwise to sign Horvat to the deal he's going to get just because he is having a career shooting percentage in a contract year

Would it change if they threw in Beauvillier to the trade?

Islanders are *not* buyers currently - they're outside the playoffs looking in. They haven't made a 1st round pick since 2019, and are lucky a pair of 2nds in Bolduc & Raty have developed into looking like NHL-caliber players. They're not going to trade both those guys, plus this year's 1st, for a guy shooting 10 points better than his career average that needs an expensive extension that they can't afford. At least take back some cap if you're going to try and shoehorn that in there.

Lou would need to move at the very least, Bailey Beauviller, One of JPG/Palmieri.
