Yeah why would they waste assets on a guy who's been in the top 4 for most of the year and sometimes on the top pairing for one of the better defensive teams in the league this season. If you don't watch him play then just move along and let people who actually watch hockey comment.

Canes don’t make big rental deals and won’t give tarasenko s big deal. We make deals for guys with control or a contract.

About 0 chance Patches is ready for the playoffs, even if we are talking SCF

Why waste picks on a guy the Canes really don’t need? I mean, hell, they took less than what they could have gotten just to move ahead out of the logjam. Just because he was played in the big minute roles out of basic necessity due to injury, doesn’t make other teams actively want to pay for someone who is still a pylon. Chatfield is a cheaper option, and isn’t as much of a liability in the dzone. But sure, I guess every GM would jump at the chance to unscrew a screwup of Dubas’ own making.

Despite what you are trying to force down everyone’s throats, Holl is not an upgrade, and isn’t worth wasting money and assets on.

Lmao at "liability". I guess ignore the facts so you and friends don't gotta admit you're wrong. Chatfield is cheaper because hes worse than him, but yeah what a screw up on Dubas signing a great #5 dman to a a massive 2Mx3 deal.

Given the Leafs injury woes on defense, Holl is a necessity. He's been their only defenseman who's been consistently healthy all season.

Logs heavy minutes, top 4 role, PK1. What more can you ask for at $2M AAV?

The Leafs would be very unwise to sell him off unless they acquire a substantial upgrade at the position.

Chatfield is cheaper because he is 4 years younger and has taken a while to put his game together. Current pay has little to do with current production especially in relation to another player. Pay typically reflects prior performances for older players and potential for younger ones. Yay for holl looking like a 3rd pairing defender while Chatfield was still developing.

Im not anti holl but the rationales you use to defend him are plain awful.

Holl is a quality defender and had Chatfield not emerged over the last 6 weeks, I would say he would make an excellent addition for us. As it is right now, we are looking for a fringe top 4 LHD.

You are using pay as a measure of which defender is better. Just shows a lack of understanding of how the salary system works. Fighting a terrible argument with an equally terrible argument, doesn’t make one or the other right. They are both equally wrong.

I get that you don’t watch chatfield but he has been very good for us this season. Despite one hyperbolizer, holl is a good bottom pair RHD. Its just not what Carolina needs.
