Avs decline. Monahan is not worth a 1st, especially with his injury problems (both this year and the previous 3-4).

Once he gets off LTIR, hopefully he’s able to string together some good games. He hasn’t played since December 5th. Even without injury troubles, getting a 1st for Monahan this season would have been a big big big reach.

It's may a big reach but like you say but what is the value of a second center able to produce at a ppg of 0,68 pts with 55,1% Faceoff stats. What also to take in consideration is the impact the player bring outside of the statistics. Look what MTL was able to do before he got injured and what happen after. It's have been show the mtl and Suzuki have been slow in there performance after losing Monahan.

He may be injury prone yeah but the impact he have could counter balance that.

Availability is a skill also.

Monahan had like 20-25 good games for the Habs. If he had stayed healthy until the TDL, maybe a team would overpay. But instead, he’s battling injuries. Just like his last 3 seasons. No team is going to move a 2023 1st for an injury riddled UFA, especially in this market.

It sucks, but the reality is that he isn’t going to get these huge returns that Habs fans expect. It’s a buyers market and there are better pending UFA centers that will get bigger returns (Horvat, Toews, O’Reilly, Larkin) if they are available.
