Description
I want to throw up every time I see paid journalists listing the Red Wings as trade partners for Bo Horvat or Jakob Chychrun. I can’t believe these people get paid money to write these kinds of things. Some idiot suggested the Red Wings might trade a 2023 1st, Marco Kasper, William Wallinder and more for Chychrun when we’re trending to pick 9th in the draft. Unreal.

Prospect rankings are in Taxi Squad.

I agree I don't think it's a good idea to even include Hronek in a Horvat trade which I've seen a lot today. Are chances of Horvat signing with Detroit in the offseason are a lot better than us winning the draft lottery. But I don't see that happening either.

I agree.

I just think we need to be aggressive this deadline by parlaying our pending UFA’s into 2023 picks and prospects. Anything other than that to me is a huge misstep.

If we can get some extra draft capital and get worse to finish off the year with the 8th worst record for example, let’s say we don’t win the lottery which is the likely result, at least we have some ammo to move up to move up from say, #8 to #3 or #4 and take Leo Carlsson who I think is going to be a superstar in this league.

It’s not often there are trades in the top 5 of a NHL draft like it is in the NFL but, why not prepare ourselves for it anyways? Or maybe we win the lottery but not for the #1 pick but, the 2nd pick or 3rd.

We’re 3.5 points in the standings away from having the 6th best odds of winning the lottery outright. The difference between the 10th doubles by dropping to the 6th.

I know there is a ton of buzz around Bedard with the #1 pick but, even if that doesn’t happen, we can’t forget we have 3 separate shots at picking in the top 3 of the draft. I would be thrilled to land the #2 or #3 pick and take Leo Carlsson I see a lot of Evgeni Malkin in his game. Not a bad consolation prize.

You want a game changer in the lineup, there he is, and you didn’t have to trade 3-4 top assets to get him and pay him $9m a year either (yet).

Swap Jarvis for Koivunen and Drury and the Canes accept. Moving Jarvis is a no go right now.

I’m sorry, what are these little abbreviations you’re using?

Draft+2
Draft+3

Jarvis is outscoring Larkin at the same age. They aren't sending him out for a rental Larkin even 1-for-1, let alone adding other pieces.

Brother, I still don’t know what you’re saying. Draft plus 2 and draft plus 3 ?

Can you say what you’re trying to say in English please. I feel like I’m being spoken to in hieroglyphics.

You don't follow hockey much, do you? Everyone knows what Draft+2 means. It's a player's 2nd season after the first year they were draft eligible.

So I'm comparing Jarvis' production with Larkin's at the same age - and Jarvis is producing more than Larkin in both D+2 and D+3. That tells me Carolina very very likely isn't going to want to trade him for a couple of months of Dylan Larkin.

Just because guys don't talk like the knuckleheads from Letterkenney (they're hilarious for the record), doesn't mean they don't watch hockey.

No idea who you're talking about. "Draft+2" is 100% self-explanatory.

I assumed that’s what it meant but when you said Dominik Kubalik didn’t play in his “d+2 or d+3” years that kinda threw me off. I think that’s kind of a pointless detail to reference when most players drafted do not play for in the NHL for several years after being drafted.

Agree on the Edmonton deal.

But not on the Carolina deal. That's WAY too much for a rental Larkin. Honestly I don't think Carolina would trade Jarvis for Larkin 1-for-1, let alone add these other pieces. Just looking at scoring rates:

D+2
Jarvis: 0.59 P/GP
Larkin: 0.56

D+3
Jarvis: 0.50 P/GP
Larkin: 0.40

Jarvis is on an pretty stacked team. Larkin had no one aside from an old banged up zetterberg. Not comparable IMO.
