if they can fit the cap, i think Nyquist would be a good add for the leafs. IMO hes a huge upgrade to their bottom 6. i could see us sending both him and Gavrikov there. however i think Toronto needs to go big game hunting this year

I agree with both of your statements. Not sure if Leafs will want to pay the 1st and 3rd for Gavrikov which is why i went for a bit less expensive options on D in Mikkola and Schenn. I would love to see Leafs get someone like Meier for their top 6 LW

I like the idea of adding Schenn. Team looks good, however, Murray in net is still my issue.

I'd start Samsonov if he keeps playing solid, just forgot to do the switch, goalie is voodoo unless you have one of the few gamebreakers IMO

Hmm. Maybe-ish, but also easily beaten.

I was thinking like a 2nd for Barbashev with retention and like a 3rd or 4th for Nikkola, maybe leafs add a mid prospect here if its not enough?

A 23 2nd for Barby and a 23 3rd for Mikko, yes. Obviously, a 1st is nice, but pushing the pick back a year opens it up to competition. It could work, I'm not saying it can't. And this offer is much better than 90% of the ones we get from Leafs AGMs, no doubt. But it's not unbeatable.

This really kinda destroys the leafs going forward. Trading away all these picks, and not being able to re-sign any of the guys that you're acquiring isn't exactly a recipe for success... especially when you have to go through either the bruins and/or lighting to get to the cup final. I can't see this as the year to go for it as the leafs... that was probably the bubble year where all they had to do was beat mtl...

Dubas' contract expires at the end of the year so unless they give him an extension prior to the trade deadline you would have to think he would try and make some serious moves to contend this year. I know it is a lot of draft picks to trade away, but in this scenario i kept the two top prospects in Knies and Niemela, leafs have some internal options for cheap bottom 6 next year in Holmberg, Mccmann, Knies, abruzzes, steeves, plus they have been able to find players for cheap through FA. If they could get a couple defenseman signed to discount contracts next year they could potentially find a way to sign either Meier below his qualifying offer on a longer term or resign Bunting to a team friendly deal with term.
