But dumba is of no use to us either so why would we increase our cap hit and give up a second or the first for retention and still be paying more.

Holls value to caphit ratio cannot be beaten by Dumba therefore he isn't worth giving up assets for.

I don’t know why you are accounting for Holl at all. You can take him out of the deal for all I care. Change the cap coming back to Kerfoot, swap the 2nd to a 1st, and Dumba has 50% retention. Doesn’t hurt your cap. You don’t lose a super important player. Minnesota gets what they want (1st) in return.

This is assuming Toronto would like to press the “go” button before everyone leaves in a couple years. Bolster the defense without hurting your team.

As a Sabre fan I would consider that deal.
Mittelstadt is hardly a bust and has plated very well the last six weeks.
Five first or second round picks this year is very intriguing.
Maybe Buffalo could get another LW or Asplund moves up and Hinostroza gets a recall.

Look I understand your reasoning, but kerfoot is a valued member of the team as well even when under performing offensively.

Dumba just isn't the player we are looking for at the cost of a first, our first round pick will likely only be moved in a deal for someone with term or team control.

Okay, then no further discussion is necessary.
