Turning a few New Leafs

Description
Scott Laughton and Zach Hyman are very similar players, but the difference is that Laughton is a natural center and could fill the Leafs fourth line center role, which would make Hyman expendable considering he's a winger and Philly could use that as well.

Hamonic had a rough year but I'm counting on a bounce back. Right-handed defensemen with term are expensive, so I think adding a few solid depth pieces on top of a 25-30 goal scorer should be enough to get him. You also have to think of the Expansion Draft, and by adding Carrick it potentially protects Ryan Pulock from being taken as George McPhee drafted Connor Carrick and would probably want to take him if he were available in this scenario.

This is also done before the Expansion Draft. The Leafs receive Ilya Kovalchuk's rights for Kerby Rychel. Kovalchuk is obviously JVR's replacement and as long as he can fill the net between 23-30 times over the next two years it'll be worth it.

Also, I believe that when the Leafs mentioned after the season (Lou mentioned this in an interview) how they believed a particular defenseman would be ready to make the transition to the Leafs full-time, I think they meant Justin Holl NOT Travis Dermott, (who is probably another year away) which is why I re-signed Hunwick to a 1 year deal.

I think the Isles would accept that trade

I guess the Flyers would take that deal. Depends on the price that Hyman will sign for though. Laughton probably only signs for 850k and 950k max. If Hyman is looking at over $2M the Flyers pass.

The Islanders will not take that deal this year. They are most likely losing Tavares next season and will have no team to build around without Hamonic.

Fair post but I don't think harmonic is very good to be honest. He would help this team as they are weak on D but I would target other players first. He had about as many points as Martin. He's a lot closer to Carrick then people would think. I'm not sure how good Laughton is but I'm sure that Hyman is better as he at least was effective in the NHL already but I understand the logic.

Too much for Hamonic he is overvalued. Team that gets Kovy will have to give up a 2nd rounder at least. No way Lou signs an aged veteran to a 6mill/year deal. Hyman deal makes sense but Babcock likes him so unlikely hes traded.
