The Kings Gambit - Building A Dynasty

Description
The LA kings are in an extremely fortunate circumstance, as their abundance of young talent allow them to go out and get great players who are available and fill positional needs. The stars have pretty much aligned for this LA team, and they could easily become a cup contender if willing to spend the assets. If Thatcher Demko is truly available for trade, the fit between him and the Kings would be perfect. When healthy, Demko is one of the league's best, and at 5 mil for 3 seasons, he would be a brilliant addition to anchor the Kings. That being said, I am not of the belief that Demko is available for trade. If he is, the Kings should be on the phone ASAP. In contrast to Demko, we all know that Chychrun is available for trade, and once again, the fit between LA and Chychrun is ideal. He is a relatively cheap defenseman with term who brings so much to a weak LD core. He is a true number 1 defenseman and would be worth every penny. Walker could be a decent get for any team in need of an RHD, so Ottawa would be a decent trade partner. Cal Petersen needs to be moved and I would consider paying more to do so if a 3rd isn't enough.

As an outsider looking in, I am not terribly familiar with LA's wants, needs, or what they're willing to spend. Am I overvaluing anyone? Undervaluing anyone? Let me know in the comments, but I truly believe that the trade targets becoming available are just asking for the Kings to make a trade.

AS a Wild fan I've been interested in Turcotte as a player for the Wild. We have needs at center and you are stacked up the middle. What would fans want in a return for Turcotte? I know he's had injuries but he was the 5th overall pick there is talent there, not sure if he gets a true look when you have a HOF Kopitar, Danault on a massive contract and Byfield who has the potential to be a franchise center. Maybe a fresh start helps him get his confidence back as well?

    I like it overall.

Feels like a lot for Chychrun (Although seems reported to be what Arizona expects, I guess the kicker is they take Cal Pettersen) and Maybe not enough for Demko?

Nice setup, they would be dynamite.

Yeah, if I were the Kings I would be hesitant to move Kaliyev, but I was trying to base it around the ask for the equivalent of 4 first round picks (which I'm sure will be lowered atleast a tad because that is an insane ask). If Demko is available, having two superstars in him and Chychrun to address dire positional needs would be all too perfect. This team, on paper anyways, is a juggernaut

People who believe that a competent GM would take the risk of investing significant assets in Thatcher Demko should research the history of why Jake Oettinger is tending goal for the Dallas Stars.

Los Angeles has no need or pressing urgency to trade Sean Walker for less than a top-half third.

Your belief that "Cal Petersen needs to be moved" is misinformed. He's fine where he is in Ontario and if he doesn't regain his form, we don't have to dump him until the summer of 2024, when we can buy him out cheaply. We've been through this.

I don't think that we'll give up both Kaliyev and our 2023 for Chychrun. One would be hard enough to stomach; if the price is both, I hope Blake passes.
