They shouldn’t . They should push hard to try to make the playoffs even if they fall short and re-sign Debrincat.

Sabres simply wouldn’t do that

1- not gonna have any interest in Talbot or Zaitsev
2- not gonna give up what it would take to get DeBrincat

We’re already one of the top scoring teams in the league,
so we don’t need DeBrincat
And if we did go after a top6 forward,
it would be for prospects & maybe a pick- not UPL

UPL is basically our #1 goalie now,
and i highly doubt we’d move him

A possible package for DeBrincat would be something more like:
Isak Rosen + (maybe) a 1st… MAYBE
*DeBrincat is having a substandard season with his goal scoring- so his value isn’t quite what it was

And Olofsson has actually been doing quite well for us on our 3rd line, so idk that we’d even be interested in paying to (supposedly) “upgrade” to DeBrincat when Olofsson has about 35% more goals than him this season (23 to 17)

1- we’d pass on Talbot & Zaitsev
2- Olofsson has 23 goals, DeBrincat 17
3- not that Olofsson is better, But upgrading to DeBrincat isn’t worth UPL & a 1st- that’s just nutty
