If the Devils don't land any bigger fish, maybe. I have heard that their internal analytics team is low on Boeser

I'm not in love with Garland as a target for the Flames, he feels like he already fits that Dube, Mangiapane, Pelletier, kind of mould, Coleman to a lesser extent. Just creates a log jam for guys like Schwindt, Zary, Pelletier, Coronato who hopefully can play a similar role at a much lower cap hit in the coming years. Moving on from Kylington and Poirier in the same deal also kind pillages the left side if Hanifin and Zadorov walk in two years time.

I like this going forward. Meier and Bratt contracts are going to be a handful if we are going that route.

Awful is kinda a bad take. He was one of our better forwards this year and plays a very good two-way game. I wouldn't call it a good contract but it isn't awful either.

So I keep seeing different versions of Tyler Myers to Ottawa... And here is why they don't make sense.

The top 6 is set in Ottawa for a few years secondary scoring is easier to come by and may actually be in the system. So really defence is the issue to move the team forward.

Chabot and Zub are a solid first pairing. Sanderson is set on the second pairing. And Bernard-Docker is likely set next year as the third pairing RD. The Third pairing LD is either Brannstrom or a fill in. So that leaves only the 2nd pairing RD.

The issue is that Zaitsev isn't the solution but neither is Myers. So why would Ottawa give up assets that don't solve that problem.

In fact, Ottawa would be way more inclined to give up those assets to not have Zaitsev OR Myers to deal with next year.

I understand what you mean but I can see the Flames in the near future go after a top paring D-man and lock him up long term. The reason is because Zadorov will most likely walk and Hanifin seems like he will be a Flame for a while

I don't doubt that two years down the road here the Flames will have to make a pitch for a D man with Zadorov, Tanev, Hanifin, Kylington all of the books at the same time. Hanifin of those four hopefully is the long term fit as a 2LD and the Flames can run Weegar-Andersson as a top pairing.
