I think Stecher is far more likely as a pickup than Brown. He hits a lot, but doesn't do much else, struggles to clear guys out in front of the net, and Washington could probably get a better version of him in Gudas (If Florida sells), Soucy, or other depth defensemen. I thoroughly doubt that he would unseat TvR, at best I think he moves past Irwin (which might start a chain of events that forces Alexeyev on waivers).

Gudas, Soucy, TVR are legit top 4 dmen on any team.

Stech and Brown are ideal 6/7D for a playoff team but who would you rather PK? Brown hits but is he physical when it matters? Stech doesn't hit but is smarter with the puck...

no brown is not good even as a 7d and no he would not be beating out TVR for a spot in any circumstance. He is a much worse player than Irwin

I'd go with Stecher in a heartbeat if we're talking PK. Last thing I want on PK is someone who just chases the puck and throws his body around, I'd much prefer a defenseman who could be slightly less physical but makes good decisions with the puck. I'd hate to see my defenseman make a great play to steal the puck in the corner, only to blindly throw it up the middle and not have it leave the zone, and I think there is less of a chance that Stecher would do that as opposed to Brown.
