I'm just going to let you Leaf fans know right now there is no way you are getting Meier without giving up multiple picks and Knies and even then that might not be enough.

The reason teams like New Jersey are in on Meier is because they can actually offer multiple pieces like Nemec, Holtz, Bratt and picks.

Namec isn't getting traded, the only guy available to the Sharks is a guy like Holtz. Also, the Sharks reportedly want a goalie prospect and Dennis Hildeby is doing really good in the SHL as a 20 year old and playing against men in the league. He is expected to make it to North America either next season or the season after but he is looking like the real deal

I'm not losing sleep if the Leafs don't acquire him, I would rather keep a future Meier who will be on his ELC for the next 3 seasons if it comes down to it

What the….this is a massive overpay. We know what deadline deals look like, and it certainly isn’t more than this.

I think the Leafs are better off trading one of Woll or Kallgren. I'm guessing it would be Woll they offer since they chose to call him up, probably to showcase him a bit. I think he's still considered the top/most valuable goalie prospect on the Leafs even with Hildeby and McKay in the system along with Kallgren the closest to being NHL ready which is probably what SJ is more interested in. Of course, it's probably going to depend on Woll doing well in whatever games he plays.

For the Leafs though, Woll is born in 1998, McKay 1997, and Kallgren 1996, so depending on the rest of the package I think the Leafs should offer either Woll or Kallgren, if it's what you are offering here probably Kallgren at first.

Offering Bratt+picks, Holtz and Nemec will cover most of the value of Meier, so depending on what picks they give it could be a massive overpay such as two 1sts along with either one.

Kallgren is 26 with a sub 900 save % in the AHL. I know he;s a Marlie so thus he is an all star in waiting but he has little use on the trade market,

Yeah, for sure depending on who they are giving up in the trade, he could serve as a small sweetener, such as if the centerpiece of the trade is Knies. I would rather have them trade Woll if it means giving up less.

Kallgren will probably just serve as a backup next year or after, but I'm not expecting too much out of him. I do like his game though, his calmness does remind me of Andersen. I think if he stays in Toronto though, he probably doesn't turnout, if he gets traded, he turns into Tuukka Rask. I imagine something similar would happen with Woll but that he would be plagued with injuries in Toronto.
