Canes go for it

Description
This adds a 2C, and a top 6 goal scorer we need. I’m assuming this includes a re-sign with Timo for 8.5-9m. Maybe they go 3-5 years instead of 8. Potential advantages to both sides there. O’Reilly could re-sign but not part of this deal. I think the prospect on the Timo deal could be upgraded if necessary, but Jarvis and a 1st is a good start (plus, not asking for or needing salary retention). Side note, I’m not trading Jarvis unless we get 2 top 6 players this trade deadline. Substituting Jarvis for Timo alone is not worth the cost. This is a “go for it” move that we haven’t done before, but there are still a ton of good prospects in the pipeline and the draft picks needed to do this is pretty reasonable due to the surplus from Philly. The Canes wouldn’t own a 1st or 3rd pick this off-season, but with 3 fifth round and 2 six round picks available, they could easily get a 3rd round pick to restock the cupboard if that is important to them. Also, plenty of room to absorb Timo’s deal knowing Staal won’t make $6mil next year and you don’t have to save cap space to re-sign Jarvis

That’d be a very poor return for ROR for the Blues.

Canes aren’t moving Jarvis. Swap Trikozov for Koivunen and add a first. As for ROR, given his performances this season, that is a more than fair return.

I think a 2&3 for O’Reilly would be a pretty good return. Some team could go crazy at the deadline, but I don’t see him netting a 1st

So, you’d send 2 first round picks and Koivunen? I’d be happier with that, but not sure the Sharks do the deal without a young roster player

I mean the same was said about Tarasenko who controlled his own destiny.

ROR has no trade protection. Armstrong is also extremely patient. Wouldn’t be surprised to see ROR extended instead if that’s all the return was.

There’s no point full on debating it. Neither of us have any clue, but I have a hard time seeing he isn’t worth more than a 1st to us.

Pass on paying the ask for ROR, which will be higher than this. Also pass on that deal for Jarvis

Zero interest in ROR. Would be perfectly happy to see the Blues keep and extend him if that is the sentiment. Definitely in on Meier, but take out Jarvis. We're looking to add to the top-6 not 'upgrade'.

Uhh that's not fair for O'Reilly, folks. Stop playin'. If a 24 2nd is the main piece and you expect a damn draft pick back in the deal, you're tripping. Simple as.
