Detroit declines. No use for Labanc. All Vrana does is score goals when he's wearing a Red Wings jersey. I'll take my chances with him.

NJ would hopefully do that Meier trade, but not that Remier trade

It would be crazy to think anyone is getting 3 firsts or who would give up for the next 3 years

need to ditch another person to be at 50 contracts. Assume you could fit in someone cheap going back in the EDM trade

That's far too rich for Karlsson and Edmonton doesn't have the cap space anyhow.

Not according to Mike Grier, San Jose Sharks GM.

Grier, on if he’s asking for three first-round picks for Karlsson:

I’m not gonna really get into what we’re asking for. But I don’t think that’s totally accurate.

And you missed the part about the cap space - the league wouldn't allow the trade as it puts the Oilers well over the cap.

Who knows if anyone even takes on Karlsson with that cap another 4 years even at 8.5M

Yeah, not if the asking price is Barrie + 3 firsts. Karlsson has only been marginally better than Barrie in his career offensively and isn't any screaming hell defensively either (although an upgrade on Barrie). So that's definitely not worth 3 firsts and a heavy cap hit.

That's because the ask is actually 4 1sts!

Nope. He was also asked if he'd accept 3 firsts for Meier and was giddy at the thought. He's being realistic about trade values.

I was making a joke, but yeah, probably not asking for 3 1sts and they would have to bend on pieces for cap/retention

SJ is reportedly being picky about what they consider is top prospects (so A vs B grade prospects). For example, reportedly they ranked Holtz as a B grade and Nemec as a "A/B tweener", so their bar for a A prospect is really high, which might be why no NJD trade for Timo has happened yet... because I don't see NJ letting go of Mercer, Hughes, or Nemec.
