Description
Bonino / Motte come in to give us a true shutdown4th line. They’re both playing tough defensive minutes on bad teams and Bonino is better than 50% in HDCF / xGF. Motte’s starting less than 30% of the time in the OZ and has good metrics. This 4th line should be starting 60+ % of the time in the DZ.

Bonino trade comp is the Cogliano trade last year. Sharks got a 5th round pick 2 years out. They get a 4th round pick 2 years out here. Motte trade is the same as last year, 4th round pick the following year

Braun is a massive upgrade as the 7D. Has been a scratch in 15 of the last 17 games. I’m the 2 games he played he was the 7D when Philly went 11/7. Think this is fair

For me Braun was the worst TDL piece going to NYR last year, and for me personally I wouldn't bother myself to get Braun.
He and Schneider didn't have good chemistry. I understand it is as 7th d man, but still.

Why do you need Braun after getting Mikkola?

Also, Bonino is too slow. You're making that line similar to the Carpenter-Reaves pair, which was too incredibly slow to do anything at the NHL level. Motte's speed (if we call it that) isnt enough to pressure the D and force the puck towards the bigger linemates.
Watching Tarasenko come over and plod around, a step or 2 behind everyone, shows how fast the Rangers need to play to be successful. They need to keep playing with speed, especially for a successfu playoff run.

Braun is the 7D and is way better than Harpur who has been debatably the worst defenseman in the league to play over 200 minutes. We can’t be an injury away from Harpur. Bonino is head and shoulders better than Carpenter and has done a great job at limiting quality chances as evidenced by his HDCF and xGF

The way I see it is that it’s a 6th round pick for a massive upgrade at 7D. Best case Braun doesn’t play, worst case he’s a significantly better player than Harpur
