For a pending FA? Not if there is any chance he walks. Maybe you can add a 2018 1st if DET makes it to the conference final and a 2019 1st should Price re-sign.

Sure but there is no way Montreal takes that deal. Not enough for Price.

Sure but there is no way Montreal takes that deal. Not enough for Price.


Then Montreal is doomed to lose him for nothing (assuming they cannot re-sign). No one is giving Montreal that kind of return for a rental.

Carey Price is Montreal Franchise goalie and Montreal is confident they can resign him. Money not gonna be an issue. Sure he may walk, sure he may not resign. But as of today, Montréal plan is to resign him. No way Montreal trade him for such a low return. Detroit needs to add way more. Way too low return and Price is way more valuable to Montreal!

You are 100% right but if the Habs cannot re-sign him then you either take that kind of offer or less or get nothing. While I understand not wanting a low return for arguably the best player in the world but no one is paying 4 first round picks for a rental. Ever.
