Kudos To Kubalik

Description
I was a little confused during the pre-game as to why Vrana didn’t suit up in place of Kubalik especially on a back to back. All Kubalik did tonight was have his best all around game as a Red Wing. Aside from the goals, which were nice, his forecheck, active stick and back checking was the best I’ve ever seen from him and he was rewarded with the opportunity to score two even strength goals.

It might not be a coincidence that this was, in my opinion, the best overall game and most impressive victory of the year for the Red Wings.

To come away with a victory coming off a back to back to win our 5th straight game, with a backup goaltender and sweep a team like Calgary is the type of occurrence that can transcend a team. Outside of the two CGY goals scored off of unforced errors, the entire team contributed to this win.

Bertuzzi looks like he’s finally back to the Bert we all know and love. He was behind many of the opportunities we had on offense and got 3 well earned points on the night.

I was hoping we wouldn’t win meaningless games down the stretch that would negatively impact our lottery odds but, if we’re going to play like this and actually play well enough to contend in the postseason, I am perfectly fine with it.

With that being said, do we stand pat at the deadline? Maybe make a small sell on a player or two? Maybe buy a RHD? A 2C?

What (if at all) would we be comfortable giving up for someone like O’Reilly and/or Fabbro?

Sure, it would be great if Yzerman did that. But he won;t.

Make it Lindstrom and two seconds, and the Preds accept. Pretty close, but could do without the retention

Bert finally looked like himself tonight. I'd imagine Zadina gets sat for vrana in Seattle, I wouldn't hate Sunny sitting for a game but lalonde seems to like his veterans. RoR has been pretty average this season I wouldn't give that up for him.

Zadina has been excellent since his return. He made a nice pick late in the game and was all alone in front of the net before getting poke check by Vladar (or at least it looked like it).

I’d like to see Ras get a rest, he really seems to be laboring over the last week. Think he needs a break.

I’m not really sold on making a big splash like that either, although ROR’s play this year doesn’t really bother me considering the entire Blues team has underperformed. If he comes cheap or without having to give up a 1st somehow, I say do it all day. Not realistic though.

I don’t think Fabbro’s value is quite there, could be wrong. And btw, I only retained because of the ROR trade.

I wouldn’t either. I would hope for a Claude Giroux type deal with a conditional 1st involved. Could be possible with ROR’s NTC but who knows.

Cheap ok but I don't see us hanging in the this playoff race once our schedule ramos up against stronger teams again.
