Smith's contract for the 3rd and Gallagher for Bjugstad isn't going to do it.

Maybe not (first off, don’t look at it like that). Adding Harrison brings it into loony tune category. He’s a depth forward.

It's basically Smith's contract for the late 3rd and Harrison+Gallagher for Bjugstad. He's a good player on a $900K cap hit and there will be a lot of interest so they will have to slightly overpay. You could switch Harrison for another B prospect but this is close to the return Arizona will get IMO.

There's no reason to pay to move Smith at this point. If it's Reilly i can understand it since there's another year left. So the 3rd + B/C prospect should get Bjugstad.

Bruins need cap space. They will activate DeBrusk and have to place Lettieri/Nosek on LTIR instead of regular cap space and accrue it over the next two weeks. They will need cap space to acquire one if not more players and be able to carry few extra players post deadline. Right now, they don't have the space for either so Smith needs to be traded. Reilly requires a better asset to get moved and he's a good defenseman that they could need later. Smith is an overpaid 13th forward at this point and they've been trying to get him going for the whole season; it's not happening.

They don't need much for the deadline. Bjugstad is a perfect target since the cap hit is so low. They can bury Smith again and have the necessary space until the playoffs. Keeping Reilly for this year also makes sense for depth and his buyout is cheap next year. Paying to move cap right now makes little sense, unless they go after Chychrun, because they're going to have the full Performance Bonus overages on next year's books.

Then dont dump Smith like that. Harrison should definitely not be added to a TDL deal as a throw in unless it gets a big fish thats not a rental

Harrison is not a throw in. Either for Bjugstad or to take Smith's contract, whatever way you want to see it.

They need a top9 forward. Again, they're barely cap compliant with two extra players. They need more players especially with the March schedule/5 back-to-backs weekends.
