Sens TD

Description
I'm making this to see how close or how far off I am when it comes to the Ottawa Senators Trade Deadline acquisitions. Some of these I doubt will happen, but who knows, the last hour of TD is also unexpected.

Notes...

Zaitsev's deal can wait until the offseason, but the team should just rip the bandaid off and get this guy on a new team. I feel bad for him, there's too much pressure on his shoulders while also having no pressure at all

Kleven SHOULD be signed sometime in Mid-March. He will probably play his first NHL game this year but depends on how the Senators are playing.

IDC where Brassard goes, as long as he can have an impact and help a team push for a strong playoff run (would be cool to see him go to his 11th team though).

Probably an overpay for Talbs (+40% retention). But when you have an aging Crosby, Malkin, and Letang, you might as well splurge for a solid backup goalie to get you ready for what is most likely a first-round matchup against Carolina or a repeat against the Rangers.

Zero chance we retain any salary on Zaitsev

Then we will be enjoying another season of questionable board bounce plays, pucks getting thrown to the middle of the ice for no reason, baby checks, infrequent point shots, missed passes on the blue line, sloppy defending... the list just goes on. No one is taking this man for $4.5M and the Sens aren't moving him with a first to get that done. There's no reason not to eat 2M in cap for 1 season so we can call someone up who actually could use the NHL playing time.

Wouldn’t retain on Zaitsev. Trade him after July 1st when his bonus is paid. 4.5m cap hit but only 2.5m salary. A 2nd should do it but if not maybe add a later pick as well.

I don’t think Brassard is worth more than a seventh

Debatable, his worth will probably be whatever the first deal that is offered to Ottawa (It's really dependent on how badly a team needs depth for the P-offs, could even be a pick that's a few years out). I think Pierre cares more about doing right by Brassard than worrying about a 5th-7th-round pick. At the end of the day, that pick will probably end up being nothing, maybe a future trade chip if we're lucky.

I just picked the Isles cause they could use some cheap depth and it would be a new team, but there's a handful of teams that could use him.

Originally I wanted to do a 3-team trade but the armchair doesn't allow it. What are your thoughts on this instead?

    Montreal:
2023 4th Round Pick (Via VGK) - OTT
2023 4th Round Pick (Via PIT) - NYR

    New York:
    Vitali Kravtsov - MTL

    Ottawa:
Tyler Motte (50% ret.) - NYR

IMO, the best landing spot for Vitali is the Habs (VAN is second). He gets Top 6 minutes and can play a big role in your future. Pitlick can still be moved, however, neither Ottawa nor New York has any need for him.

At most I'd give a 4th for Kravtsov or someone like Pezz or Pitlick
