No, Boeser makes 0 sense, especially at nearly 7 million a year. Meier is going to be the homerun swing. They don't need retention on Meier or to move back a contract so the price they'll need is likely going to be lower than something like New Jersey. If they miss there, it'll likely be Kane, Barbashev, players like that. I think it's going to be a long way down the list before we get to Boeser, and I doubt the Canes would give up anything more than a late round pick for him

Devils would be able to fit Meier without retention...so I doubt that would be much of a difference.

I imagine it will be more about what's in the package. If CAR includes Nikishin or Jarvis....they probably get Meier.

And Carolina will not be doing that, just as New Jersey won't be including Mercer or Luke Hughes...

Boeser would be a total panic move, his best season was his rookie year like 5 years ago. It’s Meier or bust, none of the other “available” names move the needle enough.

I’ve heard also that the Canes have checked in on J.T. Miller. Do you guys see Carolina possibly adding him? Or do they try Kane, Barbashev, those guys first? Would Carolina even try Toews?

Canes will not look at Meier. They were before the extension, but that anchor has put everyone off him.

I think Hughes, Nemec, Mercer and Holtz are probably our off-the-table guys. Some Devils fans believe Holtz may be.

If no Holtz, NJD can still match Morrow with Mukhamadullin or Casey...can match Blake with Gritsyuk....can match all the picks.

So I don't know if Carolina has a built-in advantage. Probably pretty close.

If Holtz has to go to SJ for us to get Meier, I’m fine that. Depending on what else goes to SJ. I’d like to keep Holtz if there’s a way but Mercer, L.Hughes and Nemec aren’t going anywhere. Unless if McDavid is coming over. smile
