Islanders just lost Barzal due to injury. They could become sellers now.

Henrique for the 2024 first and taking one of Kerfoot or Holl off your hands is fine. We'll get something for Kulikov elsewhere.

Jeremy Lauzon was getting less than 18 minutes per night on an expansion team and got back a 2nd round pick at last year's deadline.

Brett Kulak was getting less than 18 minutes per night on the worst team in the league and got back a 2nd round+ at last year's deadline.

Scott Mayfield's getting nearly 21 minutes per night on a team in the top half of the league in preventing goals. What's your reasoning that he would get less of a return than those guys?

No reasoning. Leafs just don't have anymore 2nd round picks to trade. And two thirds is almost as good as one 2nd rounder.

First: two 3rds are not as good as a 2nd rounder when one of those 3rds is three drafts away.

Second: I brought those two players up as significantly worse players who were traded for a 2nd round pick at last year's deadline. The fact that Mayfield is significantly more valuable than the Lauzons and Kulaks of the world would carry over to how much you'd have to pay for him (hint: not just a solitary 2nd rounder.)

The market is different every year. His price will depend on how much Gavrikov goes for. But you're probably right.
