Quoting: Bruins1054_gmb
The Bruins don't have many movable contracts in the off-season. DeBrusk, Zacha, Grzelcyk. Most of the other guys have clauses that make them more difficult to move for assets and cap space (Ullmark, Coyle, Hall, Forbort). My post shows that the Bruins can do very little in the off-season and still have to move a contract to be cap-compliant. Moving a guy like Grzelcyk makes sense if they can clear the space and get value back in a trade
See? We got a little explanation out of you. FYI, Swayman doesn’t have any performance bonuses this year according to puckpedia.
That said, I disagree.
First of, Zacha does have a 10 team NTC. I don’t really see how Forbort’s 3 team no-trade list makes it hard for him to move. Coyle is 8 teams. Hall is 10 teams.
So here are my questions to go against, “math, simple,” though that was pretty deep.
1. Why not try to eat into a bit of the cap overages in 22-23 if possible? Seems like it will max at $4.5, but that can be eaten into.
2. Why not forbort?
3. Why not hall? Seems like an ideal candidate.
4. Why not debrusk? He’ll need a big raise after next year.
5. Why not coyle. 8 team no trade doesn’t make it impossible.
We could go down this road for a while. Point is, its not, “simple, math.” It’s a long discussion about roster construction and player value.
