That is giving up too much for girardi. Defensively I don't think that Pionk will ever ready to start next year.... maybe the year after. I'd also love to find a way to deal Staal to avoid an expensive buyout

Yeah, agree with jwerner above. The Rangers cannot afford to give up their 1st in this deep draft, and even if they could, the Girardi deal hurts both sides. Dallas won't take Klein because they have too many bottom pairing defensemen already.

I'm not sure if Calgary would cough up a 2nd and 3rd for Raanta; it's a good idea on paper, but people are speculating that they'll give up less should they go after Fleury. And as much as I would love for Weal to be the Rangers' 4C, it now looks more likely that he'll re-sign with the Flyers.
