Really like Meier, but that's way too much given his contract status.

Sometimes snuggles can be rude, other times than can be used as a cure for the blues.

This might be too much, Im not super familar with Bolduc. I counted him as a B prospect here, so he could be subbed for a different but still good one

This is with an extension, you would get him for the next 8 years

Nah, dude. Bolduc is A-, it seems most gurus have him in the 30-45 range for best drafted NHL prospects. But again, the Blues aren't going much past two 1sts in value, if that.

Or we just simply look and see STL has under 13 million in cap space for 23/24 season and only have six forwards under contract. Hence, cannot fit a Timo contract without a major juggling of dominos. NJ/Carolina/Buffalo have the weapons of prospects and cap space. STL cannot be seen as a major player here.

Yes at a cap hit of 9m+ most likely. You're asking for an A prospect, a A-/B+ prospect and a 1st. I could likely see Bolduc and the 1st on the table with an add of like a 2nd or 3rd, but that's still alot. Isles also got Horvat for 8 years and paid a 1st conditional that is lotto protected and Raty who is probably similar or a bit worse of a prospect than Bolduc and Beauvillier who is extremely debatable where you see him at in terms of value.

For reference, if you subscribe to the athletic, look at Scott Wheeler's prospect rankings. You can have your opinion one way or another on Wheeler's analysis, but Snuggerud is at 15 and Bolduc is at 43.

To give context, Holtz is at 22, Eklund is at 23, Knies is at 42, and Morrow and Nikishin are at 38 and 39 respectively. Just wanted to outline the guys that i'm sure you are seeing in trade proposals consistently to give as unbiased of a look as possible.

For reference he also tiered off the chart into 1-2( Luke Hughes/Cooley)/3-9/10-24/ 25-45/ 46-50.

What we have been hearing for a while is Holtz+2023 first+ B prospect or young NHL player like Zetterlund

I think an offer of one of the late firsts + Snugg + something else small would be very in line with that offer.

Could also go the route of the Blues first with some protection if Snugg is a total no go, but deal will need one of them.

Fair enough, he could be changed for a more real B prospect then

I suggested Ellis, as the Sharks goaltending ranks are quite lean moving forwad.

I would say if that offer is on the table from the Devils, the Sharks should take it.

It just doesn’t make any since to move our 23 1st or Snuggerud and then fill up 9m+ in cap space going forward.

That offer from the Devils is also an extremely high price to pay for a guy you’re going to have to pay over 10% of the cap to starting next season. Blues aren’t competitive this season so I don’t really see them being a serious buyer at something at that cost. What I can see if Meier is traded and someone extends the QO them offering up one of the later 1sts and a 2nd next season for the QO at the draft.

Well thats going to be unrelated to the sharks. The rumor right now is that STL is interested, so I think it makes sense to talk about it.

They will probably move more salary out no?

Certainly makes sense to talk about. Probably will cap wise, but that shouldn't really change the position the Blues take. I think there's definitely interest there. I just don't foresee the Blues having any interest in moving out Snuggerud or their first out in a deal for him. The added cost of a transaction is certainly the cap percentage that said player will require. It's part of the reason the ask for Chychrun is so high. There is the control, but it's also very marginal of a hit towards the cap for the player.

Fair. I mean we dont actually know what Timo will cost, maybe the two late firsts plus something could also be viable?

What we do know is it should be similar value to Debrincat which was 7 + 39 + third.

Debrincat had a full season at 6.4m, not the back half of the season. This is partially what i was getting at as to why there should be no reason for the Blues to have interest in paying a price similar to Debrincat and should instead look for something more in the Horvat cost range. The issue is we don't really have many B range prospects. We have Bolduc, Neighbors and Snuggerud, some good goalie prospects and then guys that more so project as bottom pair dmen/depth forwards.

It would make alot more sense to have something of an offer around the two late 1sts and a middling prospect or a reclamation project like Logan Brown on our end.

Not sure it makes sense to get a Horvat for you. If you wanted one you just traded two of them.

Meier is unique that hes only 26 and you get him for 8 years, you can build around him

What i was getting at is Horvat is only 27, Meier is an RFA, but his QO is so high that it's not like trading for a typical RFA. They're essentially in the same light in my mind. It's why i'd imagine a trade to be similar.
