I see my fellow Devilsfans are not high on the idea of trading for Chyrcrhurhun so he can take on the role of a Top 4 D for a couple years until the cap (fingers crossed) goes up again..

Luke Hughes means it's a better idea to save those assets. That's an insane price to pay for a defenseman when what we need is anything else

Who do you see ready to come in on the left side behind Siegs and Luke for the next 2 years?

Bahl/Okhotiuk/Smith next year, and Vilén the following year. Possibly Muk if they don't switch him to the right side.

I've seen good things about Vilen but do you think he'll be ready that quick and be a solution?

He should be in Utica next year, and if he continues his great play he'll absolutely be a viable depth option the following year. The more important point is that we don't need to spend big on depth LD when we have 5 other great defensemen on the roster

If the D core next year looks like this:

Siegenthaler Hamilton
Hughes Marino
Bahl Smith / Nemec

success really would depend on if Hughes or Nemec Makar their way into this league which I dont think is a fair expectation.
Also Bahl will probably be a good bottom pair D Man one day but I am not so sure it will be next year...
One way or another they will have to bring in another capable defenseman until the D prospects are ready for a top 4 role.
Im not sure Graves would come cheap at all... Severson will be 29 and looking for a long term deal....

Using assests to bring in Chychryun for 2 and a half years and using the cap for a probable UFA superstar winger would make for a fun 2 years until the 12 million cap hit makes everything a headache..

I'd just trade Walsh, get whatever we can for him. He needs NHL ice now but imo odds are Nemec is better next year

I think we could get a 2nd. Would love to see him in the Meier trade too but I'd bet they prefer a Muk or Casey

Worst case you throw him in as a sweetener to get meier along with mukh/casey and other pieces

I agree on trying to see if you can move Walsh for smth as I dont think he has a path to play RD in New Jersey and he will probably wanna move on aswell.

Not sure on his value at all, Siegenthaler was blocked but played way more NHL games in Washington and only got a 3rd and I dont think Walsh has that kind of value to a GM in the league..

Siegenthaler was up with the caps, just healthy scratched, and he requested a trade. The Devils' 3rd was also pretty early in the round and we had no 2nd.

Yeah I'd go 1st, 1 C piece (stillman/bahl/walsh/nikita) + 2 B pieces (Arseni/Zett/Yegor/Casey/Mukh/vilen/MAYBE holtz at a maximum)
