My Guess on Kane

Created by: GM69
Team: 2022-23 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 24, 2023
Published: Feb. 24, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Yes per cap friendly this puts them over the cap even with accrual. In the real world, if you trade/waive Leschyshyn on/by 2/26/23, and trade Kravtsov on the trade deadline (3/3/23) you would have just enough space to get Kane at 75% retained (only by about 16k). It really limits any moves until the playoffs (in terms of call ups, etc.). They also may start sending Scheider down to the AHL on off days (he's waivers exempt) just to save as much as possible.

Arguing with you two is pointless cause you think the Hakws have zero leverage, reality is their leverage is a HOF player in Patrick Kane. They don't have to move him but will if they get a good package back and 2 2nd's + a BS bust prospect is not a good package.

When Chicago ownership callls Davidson and ask him why did you not get anything in return for Kane , when the owner knows that Kane is leaving in free agency and at the time still had control of him. It is going to make Davidson very inept as a GM.

Ok let's flip this around for a second, say Kane does only waive for NY and this is the only offer Drury is willing to put forward. Do you think Davidson will just forget that, do you think other teams GM's are going to overlook the fact that Drury isn't offering fair value? This sort of offer is as bad for Drury's career as the OF MB made for Aho was for his.

Not at all. I think that if Drury pulls it off he's going to look like a genius. Will Davidson forget it? Probably not, but that's not Drury's problem. I don't think that other GM's will care even a little bit, because they would do the SAME EXACT THING if it was their team and not NYR (see what happened with Giroux last year)

MB's downfall was not the Aho OS, it was:
        - The Drouin Trade
        - Drafting poorly for almost a decade
        - Trading the compensation for KK for Dvorak
        - Downturn in the careers of Price & Weber

MB 1st round draft picks - Galchenyuk, McCarron, Scherbak, Juulsen, Sergachyov (one of his best picks he traded for Drouin), Poehling, Kotkaniemi (lost to OS), Caufield (his best pick), Guhle, Mailloux (lol)

First off every GM knows when you have leverage use it that is just part of business. Second an offersheet is frown upon because the players who get offersheet are RFA under full control by there teams and for the original team to meet the offersheet it takes capspace that team would not want to willingly give up.

The Hawks won't just accept any BS offer just cause you say they will though, they will get back a 1st ++ regardless of whether it's just NY or any contender. You have to pay to play the game at the TDL

Well, I must say that the Hawks screwed themselves out of a good package here but I am big enough to admit when I am wrong. In this case I was wrong.
