Initial Creation Date: Feb. 24, 2023

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Walker would be an upgrade on RD with another year of term. LA clears a bit of salary and brings in some depth grit for the playoffs. Obviously this only happens if they don't trade for Chychrun.
Suter's playing time has been limited with the number of forwards we have. He's good defensively and has a bit of offensive upside. Minnesota uses the pick acquired with the extra retention from the Boston trade. He would be a cheap addition to play down the middle door a team bound for the playoffs.
Lankinen trade is to shore up goaltending so it's not all riding on Husso. I would want to resign Lankinen. Not totally sure on the value here, goalies don't seem to get alot. If they are or of a playoff spot they might as well trade him since I don't think they can afford to resign him. Nashville can resign Hellberg for league minimum if they want.
Dumo brings playoff pedigree and championship experience to a team with very little. This deal is only made if the Pens want to clear cap for another move or else I'll sure they would just ride him out. Oesterle is a decent 6/7 D.
Gavrikov trade is just an example of getting a pick for retention.

Too much I think. We wouldn't sell low on him, I would expect 1st plus, we are in the playoff race so likely am overpay.

I'd take Lankinen. I was in favour of trading Suter all season but he's playing too well right now to trade. He's been a big part of our resurgence. I'm not trading our 2023 1st. Sure I'll take Dumo for Oesterle.

Yeah I have always liked Suter. It's just making a trade to make a trade really. I didn't trade our first, that first was Edmonton's.

Don't think Holland will be using his first on a rental. He tends to target term or resign the player from every article I've seen on Gavrikov he's wanting to test free agency.

That's fair, it was more of an example of a trade to gain an asset for some cap space.

It's good thinking. Considering oilers cap situation and the known relationship between gms I could see Detroit being in the middle of whatever Holland does do. Maybe the ask from Columbus drops in the coming days and something very similar to this could happen.

I could see that trade being a second and a later pick but I just went closer to what the asking price was as to not get too much slack from either side.
